Our Customer Tile Style Profile feature takes an in-depth look at some of the fantastic renovation projects our customers complete using products from the Tile Mountain range. This month’s installment sees us catching up with Christine Musgrave of Durham who used our Talent Grey and Talent White Decor tiles to transform a tired-looking en-suite into a stylish bathroom space…
What were the circumstances behind the project?
This is our en-suite bathroom which was long overdue for a revamp.
Was your choice of decor & colour scheme influenced by the tiles you chose, or did you pick the tiles to fit in with a style you’d chosen for the rest of the room?
We knew we wanted a grey tone so looked for the tiles that we liked. We chose the bathroom cupboards first however and worked around those to match the tone of the room to the tiles.
What made you decide that the tiles you chose were the right tiles for your project?
We knew they were the ones for us as soon as we saw them and even more so after ordering the samples. In fact, we ordered numerous samples from Tile Mountain and other companies also. We couldn’t visit tile shops with the lockdown which made it harder in the long run. Also, the size of the tiles suited the small en-suite.
How long did the project take to complete and did you do the tiling yourself or hire a professional tiler?
My husband did the whole bathroom fitting himself and also the tiles. As he completed it whilst working it took 6 weeks to complete. As we have another bathroom it worked out quite well.
What part of the project was most difficult and why?
The hardest part for my husband was the plumbing and fitting the wall panels in the shower and ensuring the shower tray was fully sealed. Installing the tiles was easy as he is used to fitting tiles and they were so easy to cut.
Do you have any further decorating projects lined up?
As there are a few tiles left over my husband is going to do a feature wall in our downstairs toilet. We need our bedroom decorated also as it’s part of our lovely new en-suite.
What advice would you give to people considering undertaking a similar project?
Plan ahead for every eventuality and order plenty of tile samples to get the look you are after ahead of placing a full order.
What would you say to people who are thinking about buying tiles from Tile Mountain?
We would not hesitate in recommending Tile Mountain. We ordered numerous samples and they were all top quality. All the tiles we viewed and the ones we eventually purchased were all available at very competitive prices too!
