Customer Tile Style Profile: Gemma’s Kitchen Rework

Our Customer Tile Style Profile feature takes a closer look at some of the amazing renovation and redesign projects our customers undertake using products from the Tile Mountain range. This latest instalment features Gemma Collins of Swansea who used our Linear tiles to spruce up the kitchen of the home her and her partner are currently renovating. We caught up with her to see how the project went.

What were the circumstances behind the project?

My partner and I bought a 3 bedroom ex-council house and the plan was always to renovate it into a larger 4/5 bedroom property. The kitchen is one of the most used rooms in any house so it was important for us to get it spot on and make it nice and welcoming as well as practical.

Was your choice of decor & colour scheme influenced by the tiles you chose, or did you pick the tiles to fit in with a style you’d chosen for the rest of the room?

I chose these tiles to match the kitchen that my partner already had fitted. It wasn’t easy though – I searched google for hours until I came across a customer photo and tile review and that made my mind up – I just had to have them!

What made you decide that the tiles you chose were the right tiles for your project?

The tiles matched perfectly with the theme I had decided upon and I hadn’t seen tiles anywhere that were similar despite going to various shops and scouring the web.

How long did the project take to complete and did you do the tiling yourself or hire a professional tiler?

The whole kitchen project took about two weeks to complete but that was for everything that needed doing, including units, plumbing etc. The tiling only took two days in total and was completed by a professional tiler.

What part of the project was most difficult and why?

Honestly, the most difficult part was finding the right tiles! As mentioned, I’d looked everywhere (and I mean everywhere) before happening upon the Tile Mountain website. Thank god I did so otherwise I’d probably still be looking now!

Do you have any further decorating projects lined up?

We still have various rooms to complete in the house but we spend most of our time in the kitchen/diner. Thankfully, it’s nearing completion now so we’ll finally be able to use it to its full potential.

What advice would you give to people considering undertaking a similar project?

I would defiantly say don’t halfheartedly chose anything. I almost settled on another set of tiles from a different retailer, simply just because I couldn’t find any I liked. I searched hours for the Linear tile and absolutely love them. All our guests comment on how beautiful the tiles are and both the kitchen fitter and tiler took photos to add to their own portfolios as they were that impressed. The tiler also commented on the good quality of the tiles and how easy they were to put up.

What would you say to people who are thinking about buying tiles from Tile Mountain?

Ordering with Tile Mountain was a breeze. I was on a tight schedule as I had taken so long to come across this company and, as it turned out, after finding the tiles I needed them the very next day, This posed no problem for Tile Mountain – I spoke to a very friendly chap on the phone at 1pm and my tiles were delivered by 10am the following morning and for a very reasonable £30 delivery fee. The quality of these tiles are amazing – I wish you did more than tiles so I can finish off my house!
