Customer Tile Style Profile: Keely’s Bathroom Remodel

Our Customer Tile Style Profile feature takes a closer look at some of the amazing renovation and redesign projects our customers undertake using products from the Tile Mountain range. This month’s instalment features Keely Zoeller of Scarborough, who gave her bathroom a much-needed refresh using our Hammered Hexagon Silver Grey Mix Mosaics and Look Pearl Gloss Wall tiles. We had a quick chat with her to get the lowdown on the finished project.

What were the circumstances behind the project?

I have just bought my house and the bathroom was quite dated, and this was the first room that I wanted to makeover.

Was your choice of decor & colour scheme influenced by the tiles you chose, or did you pick the tiles to fit in with a style you’d chosen for the rest of the room?

I knew I wanted to have a mosaic feature and got a few samples from Tile Mountain. I just love how different the hexagon hammered tiles are and chose my other tiles to complement the mosaics.

What made you decide that the tiles you chose were the right tiles for your project?

The effect of the mosaic tiles was something I just fell in love with, plus I’ve wanted a mosaic feature for a while now. I would have loved to do a full feature wall of the mosaic tiles, but my budget wouldn’t allow it, so I settled for a double width strip.

How long did the project take to complete and did you do the tiling yourself or hire a professional tiler?

The whole bathroom refurb took around three weeks, due to different tradesmen’s availability. I hired a professional tiler and I’m really happy with his work.

What part of the project was most difficult and why?

The ripping out of the old bathroom – there was dust everywhere. There was also a separate shower enclosure which I took out and boarded the wall back up, so that took a bit of time also.

Do you have any further decorating projects lined up?

Yes, the whole house will be done eventually. I’m decorating the main bedroom next, then the living room, then knocking the dining room/kitchen into one and then adding a small extension.

What advice would you give to people considering undertaking a similar project?

Don’t rush it and don’t settle for something you don’t really want. You will probably have to live with your bathroom for 5-6 years at least before considering redoing it, so make sure you’re happy with your choices!

What would you say to people who are thinking about buying tiles from Tile Mountain?

Do it! I have used Tile Mountain for bathroom tiles on two separate occasions now and have never been disappointed. They have so much choice and are very prompt with delivery. I would always order samples to make sure you’re happy with the tiles. I didn’t like the texture/finish of some of the tiles I got samples of so ordered some different ones. The sample service is so useful and really does help you make decisions.
