Our Customer Tile Style Profile feature takes a closer look at some of the amazing renovation and redesign projects our customers undertake using products from the Tile Mountain range. This month’s instalment features Tom Kerr of Galashiels, who gave his kitchen a much-needed refresh using our Muralla Grey and Muralla White Brick Effect Tiles. We caught up with him to get the lowdown on the recently completed renovation.
What were the circumstances behind the project?
This was an underused dining room which we wanted to turn into a diner/kitchen.
Was your choice of decor & colour scheme influenced by the tiles you chose, or did you pick the tiles to fit in with a style you’d chosen for the rest of the room?
We’d already settled on a specific design ‘theme’ and picked the tiles to be in keeping with this. We made a good choice!
What made you decide that the tiles you chose were the right tiles for your project?
After looking at literally hundreds of tiles in store and online, Tile Mountain’s Muralla Grey and Muralla White tiles were the only ones that created the authentic brick wall effect that we were looking for.
How long did the project take to complete and did you do the tiling yourself or hire a professional tiler?
The project took about six weeks to complete and I did all the tiling myself.
What part of the project was most difficult and why?
The areas above the wall units were the most difficult because of the height of the ceiling. It was quite tricky to get in there and install the tiles accurately but I got there eventually and made quite a decent job of it!
Do you have any further decorating projects lined up?
We are hoping to create a shower room and utility room in what was our original kitchen.
What advice would you give to people considering undertaking a similar project?
If I could impart one piece of advice it would be to plan every aspect down to the last detail before you start.
What would you say to people who are thinking about buying tiles from Tile Mountain?
Tile Mountain has a great selection of tiles which are described and displayed well on the website and the customer service is also excellent.
If you’d like to see your project featured in our monthly Customer Tile Style Profile, simply leave a review of the products you bought and share photos of your completed tiling project on our Facebook wall. If we use your photos on our website we’ll send you a crisp £10 Amazon voucher for your troubles and even make you internet famous for a bit in this very feature.
