How to Decorate Your Kitchen for Christmas

One of my favourite things about Christmas is having the opportunity to throw a bit of festive cheer over everything. I pop on some Christmas tunes and bop around to everything from Nat King Cole to The Waitresses to Wham while I literally deck the halls. While the living room is normally the place we concentrate our Christmas decor, why not get your kitchen into the Christmas spirit as well?

Today, I wanted to share a few fun ideas for decorating your kitchen this Christmas. You can keep things simple or go all Hollywood OTT – it’s entirely your choice. The most important thing is for you to enjoy it and feel like it’s a real reflection of your natural home style.

Here, a white kitchen gets all dressed up for the season with a few simple additions. Add a little cheer to cupboard doors by hanging simple wreaths with a tartan ribbon and tie in the colours with a few added accessories.

Along your windowsill, why not create a simple vignette with potted pines and a few glossy baubles? I love how warm and welcoming this looks and it certainly won’t break the bank either. After Christmas, they can be replanted outdoors for additional greenery all year round.

We all like to congregate in the kitchen during Christmas gatherings and this simple welcome to your kitchen doorway will make it that much more irresistible. Evergreen garlands add life and greenery and can also do double duty for displaying Christmas cards.

Dress up any open shelving you may have with the added addition of greenery, candles and pine cones for a rustic look. Everything here is kept to a neutral palette, perfect if you don’t wish to use a lot of colour in your decor. Of course, while the candles look beautiful, you may want to consider using flameless LED candles just to be a bit safer!

For the simplest of touches, string jingle bells along the tops of your cupboards and a few simple accessories in wood for instant Christmas chic.

And finally, for warming up on a cold evening, why not create a little hot cocoa station in the corner of your kitchen? Include mugs, spoons and mix as well as a few added extras like marshmallows, candy canes and a little cinnamon for sprinkling on top!
