First Light Romance

As it’s nearly Valentine’s Day our thoughts have turned towards romantic room themes, especially as yet another Colour of The Year has been announced; this time it’s the soft and warm pink called First Light, by Benjamin Moore Paint. Absolutely perfect for a gentle and romantic look…and a colour that represents a new dawn of idealism, design and living for the new decade. So, read on to get a load of our favourite design ideas that embrace this rather lovely shade…

Romantic Green & Blush Pink

Are you considering a bathroom re-vamp? For a soft, dreamy scheme we love the way this Silver Orient Wall Mural by Avalana Design has been used as a very adventurous choice for a bathroom scheme…any room with a freestanding tub can potentially focus on a strong feature wall. You don’t have to forego tiles though, try out our 100mm x 100mm White Prismatics Square wall tiles for a similar graphic look, and our Super Porcelain floor tiles would be a good choice to add serene, understated look for the floor.

Rose Gold Romance

A pink and white colour scheme can sometimes feel a little bland or lightweight, on the other hand though, a pink and black (or dark grey) colour scheme takes the choice of pink as a focus colour to a whole new level! We love the way our Village Rose Gold wall tiles transform this room. They’re ceramic, come in 132mm x 132mm as shown here, but are also available in a retro-style format, 65mm x 200mm. If you were looking for a coordinating floor tile, could we suggest our Briana encaustic-style porcelain tiles, which are grey with a Rose pink detail.

Dreamy Curves

There’s something inherently romantic about a curvy sofa, and the Pink Camden Chesterfield from Sofas & Stuff certainly looks dreamy, just right for a romantic Valentine’s Day date night in front of the fire (probably preferable to trudging out to a packed bar or restaurant on 14 February!) If you want to create a similar parquet-style floor as seen here then take a look at our Kanna porcelain wood-design floor tiles, which come in three neutral/natural colourways.

Pretty in Pink

Three of our favourite pink accessories in honour of Valentine’s day; from left the brand new Linear jug from the Pink Gin collection at Garden Trading; Another combination of pink and neutral; this is the Dylan oak lamp base with Pink silk shade, from the new Habitat collection for Spring & Summer ’20. And lastly, the Atkinson pink stoneware dining set is also from Habitat.

Room With a View

Sometimes just the tiniest splash of colour is enough to add a zing to a room scheme. Perfectly apt for a heart motif theme, the Valentine Roller Blind from 247 Blinds is a great choice, adding a really individual touch to an otherwise monochrome scheme. And naturally, we’re going to recommend our Portland Oak luxury vinyl tiles to complete the scheme. Don’t forget, LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tiles) can be used for bedrooms, children’s rooms and living rooms, as well as kitchens and bathrooms. And if you need to contact one of our experts for advice, you can have an online chat here.

We can’t let Valentine’s day pass by without giving you a few gift suggestions. Ok, so it’s likely that we’re all paying rather more attention to our next big home improvement project, but here’s some suggestions anyway! From left; If you have few days in hand and there’s time to order one of the lovely pink and red combinations from The Real Flower Company, try the Vintage Valentine Bouquet. Who could resist the Straight From The Heart box of Valentine chocolates from Hotel Chocolat! And finally, for something that will last a little longer, try a pink and red embroidered cushion, this is the Embroidered Face Cushion, available from Matalan.

In A Romantic Mood

We love how this little corner brings together some very eclectic elements to illustrate a soft and romantic look, despite the industrial walls and windows … A couple of super-comfy pink armchairs and a pretty painted cabinet make this space look homely. Archie Pink Armchairs in Dusty Velvet, Santoro Painted Drinks Cabinet, Capri Table Lamp and all other accessories, all from Marks & Spencer.

Slip Into Something A Little More Comfortable

And finally, for a cheeky little Valentine’s Day gift, hop on over to Moccis for a peek at their hand-sewn Swedish Moccasins. Let’s be honest, it’s still February and despite the feeling that Spring is almost within reach, it’s still blimmin’ cold! Warm feet are happy feet…
