How to Add Sparkle with Tiles

Considering the festive season is in full swing, I thought it’d be fun today to talk about sparkle – you know, that one thing that makes Christmas a little bit more festive and something I love to have in my own home any time of year. Of course, this can mean different things to different people – I use a lot of brass and gold because, for me, it’s like jewellery for my home while others may see it as ‘OTT bling’! For some, it may be enough to simply have one sparkling light fixture or a delicate glass bowl in a calm and quiet neutral room. However you like your sparkle and in whatever quantities, I’m sure one place you may not have considered it is in your tiles.

As it goes, you don’t have to look very far to see some fantastic inspiration for adding sparkle with tiles. Our kitchens and bathrooms are normally one place we understand how important good lighting really is and with reflective tiles, the light is bounced around and back into the room, making everything look brighter.

You can create some real drama by using reflective tiles of any kind – glass mosaics or those that contain some kind of mirror effect are a particularly good option but really, any tile with a glossy pattern that reflects light well can add that bit of sparkle to your space.

Speaking of mirror effects, our Metallic Modular Glass Mosaic has small inserts of mirrored tile in the design, creating incredible drama that reflects any available light back into your space while providing just enough sparkle to keep things interesting.

You can always use tiles with sparkle in smaller areas if you don’t want to go full-on glam. I love the use of a mosaic inserts within the small in-built alcoves of this bathroom surrounded by stately matt finish tiles. It’s subtle but certainly packs a punch when used in this way.

If you love a more full-on look, why not create a feature wall of reflective glass mosaic tiles? For real impact, combined these with a simple white tile so your feature wall takes centre stage and draws the eye.

This can work equally well in the kitchen. A glass mosaic tile in beautiful jewel tones makes a stunning statement as a splashback.

If you are looking for something a little more subtle, then our Ice Green Mosaic may be just what you’re looking for. Combining a white stone tile with reflective glass in soft green, this will still give you sparkle with a more understated elegance.

In fact, combining different finishes is a perfect way to add a touch of glam without overloading the senses. Our Georgia Glass mosaic tile uses moodier tones that contrast perfectly with pops of metallic in the design.

And finally, for walls and floors, a touch of metallic goes far and our Quartz Stone tiles contain small reflective particles, perfect for adding a touch of sparkle to your next project. It’s also available in black, grey and red and comes in both larger format as well as mosaic.
