Let’s Get Warmed Up…

Cosy ideas are not  just for Valentine’s day, at the moment we need touches of warmth and colour every day. Warm shades of red, rust, orange and coral will add a sense of cheerfulness and indulgence to a colour scheme. The weather forecast isn’t looking good, so we reckon it’s time to cosy up your home for a Valentine’s night in. Here’s some interiors inspiration to set the mood…

Dark Drama

At first glance, a black tiled floor (our wonderful Muse Dark Grey Matt porcelain tiles) with a textured grey chimney wall (our Grey Marble Split Face Mosaic tiles) may not look warm and cosy but when paired with a very glamorous glass-fronted fire, comfy leather sofa and naturally, our Electric Underfloor Heating, there’s not a single doubt that this living room will definitely be cosy enough to celebrate Valentine’s day with a glass or two of fizz…

Calm and Cosy

A room doesn’t necessarily have to be full of ‘warm’ colours to look cosy – we rather like the pale, Scandi take on cosiness. These are our Graziella Roble Oak Wood Effect porcelain planks, which have a lovely warm look, thanks to the realistic oak hardwood design. Each plank measures 1200mm x 230mm, and samples are available to plan out your new project. Natural wood looks, pale cosy blankets and throws, and an open fireplace; all those elements definitely add up to a warm and wintry look.

Warm Wood Looks

Bring a sense of natural warmth and a natural, comfortable aesthetic into a room with our Nordic Wood Dark Brown wood effect tiles – these are a realistic plank-style tile with a textured finish that replicates real timber grain. Definitely a good wood look! Perfect with underfloor heating and a choice of cosy upholstery in warming colours.

Romantic Pastels

For a more gentle, softer look, try our Village Rose Gold Wall Tiles, this fashionable Rose Gold shade is a gently shaded pink, which can work as a feature colour in its’ own right, or can bring a softer element into strong colour schemes. Here’s it’s paired with a bold red, try Baked Cherry by Little Greene for a similarly strong look. We would also suggest choosing gold-finish accessories to emphasise that warm and glamorous effect.

Three Cosy

From left, choose a very traditional-style rug from The Braided Rug Company – this is Shiraz in Organic Jute, it comes in lots of sizes, including a runner. Rather lovely for a cosy kitchen. Middle; This gorgeous velvet cushion from Curated Living features a striking Poppies design, adding colour and warmth to a scheme. Right; The Daugava rug from Oka is a generous 305cm x 240cm and makes a great finishing touch for a tiled floor, especially if laid over darker colour choices, such as a dark natural timber style – perhaps our Vintage Floor Tiles.

Comfortable Convenience

Every living room needs to be convenient to use, as well as cosy and comfortable, of course. So plenty of cushions, a great sofa, and a set of coffee or side tables. It’s vital that there’s somewhere to put that mug of hot chocolate or that lovely glass of fizz! Keep the warm feeling going with underfloor heating and a rug over a sleek tiled floor. Oh, and a splash of warm colour works wonders too. We’re rather keen on rusty browns and reds at the moment. Super-practical tables and accessories here are all from Dunelm.

A Modest Celebration

Add some style to a simple outdoor area with some cheerful outdoor furniture and spruce up fencing with a coat of stain to get a great new look for spring. If you fancy a bit of DIY, why not put up a pergola framework too. Of course, that’s after installing some practical outdoor slabs. For a contrasting look, try our Basilea Grey Outdoor Slab tiles. This red outdoor set and colourful chair will soon be available from the new outdoor range at Habitat.

Oh, Go On Then…

Our Mini Metro Red Wall Tiles are an absolute favourite, and we never tire of seeing them brightening up a vivid kitchen scheme. We rather like them teamed with grey and mid-blue – of course red works brilliantly with black and white too, but we think the choice of blue is a bit more subtle. Our Metro and Mini Metro tiles also come in a great selection of other shades, including Black, Sage, Pink, Plum and Teal. So there’s definitely a good choice of colours to create a striking feature wall, splashback or upstand. Don’t forget, bold colour adds warmth, focus and personality to a scheme!

Racy Red

This is the Haze Basin in Elements DQ Cast Stone, which is available to order from Waters Baths of Ashbourne in bespoke RAL colours. This wonderful red is RAL 3027, used for the exterior. Pair it up with black tiles for a very dramatic look; try our Trinity Lux black porcelain wall tiles for a very glam finish.

Yes, this has been a strange year and we’re on the verge of a lockdown Valentine’s day for the first time ever – so here’s wishing you a Happy Valentine’s Day from all of us at Tile Mountain! This gorgeous bouquet is available from The Real Flower Company.
