It’s been a rollercoaster ride for us at Tile Mountain over the past three and a half years, a ride which has seen us evolve from a concept devised by a couple of tile industry moguls to the fastest growing tile retailer in the UK. Today marked a significant milestone for the company as we officially opened our brand spanking new £10m, 120,000 sq ft warehouse, showroom, and office complex in Tunstall, Stoke on Trent.
Whilst we’d been here for a couple of weeks, today was the day that we cut the ribbon and heralded a new era for Tile Mountain in our new home. The official opening ceremony saw the great and good of the tile industry, as well as luminaries from the North Staffordshire business community, in attendance to watch Stoke City FC and bet365 chairman, Peter Coates, cut the ribbon and declare Tile Mountain’s new base fully operational.
Speaking at the ceremony, Tile Mountain managing director, Jeremy Harris said: “This is a momentous occasion in the history of the firm and the opening of this new, state-of-the-art facility is a statement of our ambitions as a company.
“The phenomenal growth Tile Mountain has experienced since its inception saw it quickly outgrow the old site, meaning that a new distribution hub and administrative nerve centre was required.
“Just over a year after the initial plans were submitted and we’re here. It’s a fantastic building – we’ve committed to create 70 jobs at this site over the next three years and believe that the complex is a fitting home to both the Tile Mountain brand and its expanding workforce.”
Stoke chief Peter Coates paid tribute to the hard work that has gone into the business, commending Tile Mountain chairman, Mo Iqbal, on his drive and determination to bring what is a new concept in tile retailing to fruition. Mr Coates quipped: “People say to me, ‘what do you need to do to have a successful business?’ and one of the most basic things – and it’s very true – is that somebody has to know what they’re doing and I’m sure the team at Tile Mountain have got that in abundance.”
Following the ceremony, the dignitaries in attendance made their way round to our gleaming new showroom for a champagne reception and marvelled at our vast range of tiles (over 1000 ranges to be exact) split over two floors.
Award-wining interiors blogger and Tile Mountain contributor, Kimberly Duran, was especially impressed during what was her first visit to the new facility. “The displays are quite breathtaking and really allow you to see the tiles in their fully glory. The Moroccan-inspired tiles have really caught my eye and I’ve kinda fallen in love with a couple of the designs. Think I’ll have to find a way to incorporate the Esenzia and Fenice tiles into my next project!”
