On-Trend Bathroom Tile Ideas for Summer 2020

The most popular bathroom tile ideas for 2020 are very wide-ranging indeed, with there seemingly something to suit everyone’s taste. Current trending looks include striking geometrics, perfect plains, interesting textures and cheerful colours. We’ve rounded up some of our favourite bathroom tile trends right here to give you a bit of inspiration…

Shining Stars

Star and geometric patterns are definitely on-trend, whether your choice is to go for a completely patterned floor or walls, a bit of both, or just a section of wall décor using stars or geometrics. Our Metropolis Star tiles are suited to walls and floors, and are designed to replicate a vintage encaustic look. We also supply these tiles for bars and restaurants – designers love them for their authentic distressed looks, and of course, these tiles look perfectly at home in individual homes as well. They’re suited to conservatories and hallways and can be mixed with plain tiles as well, such as our Metro tiles. We adore Metropolis Star for a bathroom setting – they add a stylish and on-trend look for 2020 and beyond!

Swinging Decisions

The Swing range of patterned tiles encompasses geometric and circular patterns with an encaustic-style look which is bang on-trend for 2020, and which works with minimalist modern bathroom cabinetry, adding a very cheerful focal point –  here, one wall is completely tiled. But, if a fully tiled wall is too much of a commitment, you could perhaps try a patterned panel instead, either behind a bath or as a shower wall panel. However you plan it, a burst of pattern is always going to add style and interest to a bathroom scheme.

Square Eyes

A useful interior design tip for using patterned tiles in the bathroom is to concentrate on just one area to embellish with pattern. The floor is often the easiest – it’s often a small area, and once it’s done it’s done. Just choose something timeless and hardwearing and you only have to choose once! So, for both style and longevity for 2020 we suggest our Avignon black and white porcelain tiles, which measure in at 250mm x 250mm and are scored to look like multiple smaller tiles within one. They’re suited to both walls and floors – we’ve seen them used as a skirting border too, which looks pretty fantastic.

Plain Perfection

There’s masses of interest in sprucing up our homes at the moment, after all, if we’re spending practically all day, every day at home it makes sense to use the time to make the most of our nests! However much we sing the praises of patterned and textured tiles, we know that many of you will always prefer something perfectly plain. Plain tiles allow you to go in any direction with added colours and patterns in the future, and a coat of paint on the skirting boards, window frames and bath tub exterior can create a whole new colour scheme. So in honour of keeping it perfectly plain and on-trend, we present our Extreme White Polished Porcelain tiles. In two formats, 600mm x 600mm and 600mm x 298mm with rectified edges for a crisp, neat grout line.

Set In Concrete Style

Tiles that are designed to look like concrete are often chosen by designers and architects who want to achieve that high-end look, but may need to keep an eye on the budgets. A matt or polished concrete floor may look very desirable, but it will come with a very high price-tag too. So we are delighted to suggest a budget-friendly alternative to real polished concrete…our Surface porcelain tiles which come in three shades; Bone, Mid-Grey and Cool Grey, and two finishes; Matt and Lapatto, which is a ‘light’ polished finish. Surface tiles are essentially ‘plain’, but on very close inspection have a very discreet textured concrete effect.

Pebble Patterns

A look at tile ideas for this year must include colour combinations as well as texture and pattern. Black and gold (or brass or copper) is very much a top trend at the moment, for kitchens as well as bathrooms. Here are some details of a very stylish bathroom using our Pebble glass mosaics in Silver Grey & Black. They’re straightforward to install, supplied in mesh-backed sheets which are 306mm x 306mm square.

Grey & Gold

Whilst we’re looking at bold colour schemes, we thought it would be a good opportunity to re-visit grey. This colour is still very fashionable for kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, and for those of you who have grey porcelain floor tiles and want a bit of an update, how about a bright blind and some panelling? This Roman blind is the  William Morris Acorn in Sunshine by Blinds2Go. For stylish grey porcelain tiles, try our Evolution Grey large format wall and floor tiles.

Black & Gold

On trend accessory suggestions for on-trend tile plans for 2020: From left; A gorgeous Zenia Toilet Roll Holder, Matt Black & Brushed Brass from Made.com, and right; the matching Zenia Towel Ring. There’s also a matching set of three matt black and brushed brass robe or towel hooks. Centre, for a splash of cheerful yellow to brighten up a new bathroom project, we rather like Burnt Desert from Dulux. Available in myriad formulations, including Easycare Washable & Tough Matt, Easycare Bathroom, Eggshell, Satinwood and Gloss. So yes, something for all eventualities!

Colourful Concepts

Sometimes it’s exciting to create an adventurous and colourful interior design scheme but that might not be everyone’s cup of tea for larger spaces. So if you don’t have the courage to create a multi-coloured living room or kitchen-dining-relaxing room, why not concentrate on the smallest room in the house instead? Designers often suggest adding pattern, colour and texture in small amounts as a starting point and we think a bathroom or cloakroom is a great idea for colour and pattern novices. So we had to bring you this suggestion of the Shell With Pearl pattern wallpaper from the Charlton Island range by Catherine Rowe Design. Add a colourful basin and classic tiles, such as our Metro in Teal or Vivid in Teal for a slightly larger format. Paint the surrounding architrave, skirting boards and window joinery in a matching colour for a very professional scheme.

It’s All Coming Up (Gold) Roses

And finally, a scheme that hits lots of nails on the head; plain colour, contrasting grout lines, with a retro vibe. These are our Village tiles in Rose Gold, a beautiful soft blush pink that has an Art Deco feel when teamed with black and brass. Definitely a great bathroom tile idea for 2020 schemes!
