Happy Halloween – if you’re a fan of spooky goings-on and fantastic fancy dress costumes that is! We love October, the leaves are beautiful colours, the clocks go back and it really feels as if we’re in the run up to Christmas. It also means front doors and windows can be adorned with fun decs and in recent times, it seems to have become perfectly acceptable to have seasonal wreaths and outdoor decorations on display from now till January! With all that in mind, we take a closer look at how you can take some frightfully delightful interior inspiration from All Hallows’ Eve…
Orange & The New Black
Orange is a brilliant ‘feature’ colour, it can work in virtually any colour situation (even orange and a splash of vibrant pink works beautifully!) and because it’s Halloween we just had to remind you of our Mini Metro ceramic tiles, 150mm x 75mm, in black. This classic design is perfect for kitchens and bathrooms, and just adds that defined, elegant look to a splashback or full wall. And actually, these tiles are also available in Orange but in a slightly larger format, 100mm x 300mm.
Dark Choices

Sleek, Dark, Interiors…
The trend for sleek and angular bathroom furniture continues apace, and simple design schemes can revolve around a beautiful piece of cabinetry set against crisply tiled walls – which are in this case tiled with our Doblo Matt Grey porcelain tiles. This particular design is so tough that it can be used on both walls and floors, indoors and out. So if you’re planning a luxury bathroom or kitchen and want the floor theme to extend outdoors to a patio or roof terrace, consider these. An Ominous Glow
We all love a string of fairy lights, and these are pretty fabulous, we would be leaving them up from Halloween till the end of November, that’s for certain (before swapping over to Xmas lights!). If you’re trying to get some seasonal décor into your home, pick up some colourful leaves too and create a swathe of colour across the mantelpiece or windowsills, perhaps with some strands of ivy sprinkled amongst the red, bronze and golden leaves. And if you haven’t got real leaves to hand, the shops are awash with seasonal fake boughs and twigs. If you’re feeling extra-creative, visit Hobbycraft for all the bits and bobs needed.

Seasonal Influences
A bit of orange and black is suitably seasonal, and you can’t go wrong with a splash of leopard print, as seen here on this drum pendant shade from Kissed by Betty; it’s from the Love Frankie Lampshades range, and there are dozens of other designs, made from wallpaper, also available from Kissed by Betty. If you’re getting into party mode with Halloween outfits, drinks and nibbles, lay a spooky table with this skull candelabra from an collection of eccentricities and peculiarities from Homesense. Outdoor Entertaining
Because it was either too hot to be outside or was raining like the end of the world this summer, we haven’t really felt that we got a massive amount of use out of the garden this time round! Maybe some cold evenings around the fire-pit could be planned, maybe even in time for Halloween? You might have to grab all the blankets and sheepskins from indoors though, but with a few Halloween lights and lanterns, it could be a good evening. Mulled wine will be an absolute must, of course! Final Destination
If it’s still half term where you are, visit the National Trust information section to find out about activities for the kids. And of course, it’s always a good excuse to visit a National Trust Shop – you may be in time to purchase some Halloween goodies, or maybe even make a start on the Christmas shopping! Or at least get out doors and go for an educational autumn walk, perhaps collecting some leaves for decorative purposes! All these seasonal treats are also available online from the website.
