Trend Watch: Greens & Blues for 2022

Cheering and refreshing blues and greens are going to continue be super-fashionable right through 2022, adding a breath of fresh air, nature, and optimism to interior schemes. They’ll be teamed with neutrals, enhanced with real and faux plants, and used as a stand-out colour within a scheme, perhaps contrasting with brights such as a bold pink or toned down with white and ivory shades. This month’s Trend Watch sees us exploring this burgeoning interior style a bit further and offering up some handy suggestions on how to incorporate it into your home decor…

Cool Blue

Our new Manacor Blue Moon ceramic tiles have a gorgeous glossy finish and look as good used horizontally as shown here, as vertically – as shown in our next pic! Each tile measures 400mm x 650mm and has a rich, deep colour. Go for wood-look porcelain floor tiles as a neutral base, such as our  Tejos Medium Oak style porcelain planks.

Deeply Glossy

The beautiful glossy finish of our Manacor Glacier ceramic tiles is particularly apparent in the darker shades, such as the rich, teal-like Glacier colourway. Highly effective and striking when used vertically, and in this particular layout there are some lovely design details. For example;  the contrast with the linear horizontal design lines of the basin and vanity storage unit, and the lovely curve of the circular mirror. Go for diagonally installed Manacor White tiles for the adjacent shower wall, and find round mirrors, such as the Harper Round Stainless Steel Mirror Cabinet at Bathroom Mountain

Storage Space

The Mali Four Drawer Chest, from Next would be a great buy to continue the teal-blue-green colour theme from bathroom to bedroom or perhaps to a nearby landing or bedroom. Sometimes a colourful single item of furniture is a great investment and can be moved from one room to another quite easily to add emphasis and interest to a change of colour scheme.

Living Greens

Yet another colourway from our Manacor collection – this is Manacor Basil Green, which is a glowing, natural, vibrant shade of green that works very well indeed in a kitchen. Basil Green will look good with black or charcoal painted cabinetry and brass fittings. Definitely a good choice for anyone who wants to add plants and greenery to their kitchen to create an authentic indoor-outdoor vibe, as this shade of green will link outdoor greenery to the kitchen colour scheme.

Indoor Gardens

Keep your kitchen and bathroom interiors fresh and green with a selection of faux plants, available from Dunelm. Naturally, there’s also a very extensive choice of pots and planters and dining sets to help you achieve a jungly look in the kitchen or bathroom. All shown here, available from a selection at Dunelm.

Green (Storage) Space

Emphasise your green colour scheme with the addition of some storage; perhaps a bedside table or chest of drawers, to add a defining block of colour. This is the Oslo Bedside Table in Green with brass trim – it would look equally good in a dining space to pick up that green theme. Available from Cult Furniture.

Keeping it Green

Back to nature with Sage Green Waffle100% cotton towels, also in cream and black. A timeless finishing touch that will tone with other shades and textures. Remember, a new set of towels can completely transform the look of a bathroom, whether you’re going for a colour or a neutral.

Back to Blue

For a fresh and airy bathroom colour scheme that still packs a punch, consider blue tiles, such as our Fulham Aqua wall tiles. Each tile measures 400mm x 150mm, which come in a pack of 15 tiles per box, with plain and burnt edge effects. Excellent for use within a simple blue and white scheme; try Corsica Gloss White cabinets from Bathroom Mountain to create a similar look.

Deep Blue Something

A beautiful example of bold blue teamed with sophisticated brass bathroom fittings and natural finish timber cabinetry. This is a timeless mix of colour and texture, enhanced by our Manacor Ocean Blue ceramic tiles. Remember, we have our tile experts on hand to help with any installation queries you may have, from deciding on the right kind of grout to help with calculating quantities. Visit our Contact page for advice via online live chat, telephone or email. And of course, there’s also our Help Centre on the website as well.

Deco Style Jade

These are our Hampshire Jade Green ceramic tiles, in a slightly smaller format to the designs we’ve already focused on this week. Our Hampshire tiles measure 150mm x 75mm and are similar in proportion to the ever-popular Metro tiles, but with a softer looking, slightly undulating finish. The Jade colourway has an Art Deco air, as that shade of green was very popular for bathrooms in the ’20s and ’30s.

A Cool Contrast

In case we’ve overdone the greens and blues this month, here’s a look at the equally as beautiful Manacor White ceramic tiles, which of course can be mixed in with any of the blue and green shades we’ve mentioned in this edition of Trend Watch! Manacor White also has a glossy finish, and because of the slightly undulating surface finish, avoids that over-clinical look that some white tiles have.
