Trend Watch: Green Themes – Back to Nature

The most obvious element of any interior trend is usually colour…so this time we are looking at one current colour trend that’s catching everyone’s eye. Green is the ‘back to nature’ colour that adds a natural element to all interior and exterior schemes. In this month’s edition of Trend Watch, we take a deep dive into how introducing green to your schemes can add a sense of balance and calm, and stronger leaf and jungle greens add a fresh, lively touch…

Luxurious Green

One of our most recent introduction is Lemmy Viridium Green shown here in 600mm x 1200mm and also available in a 600mm x 600mm square format. These porcelain tiles have a beautiful finish, with the appearance of concrete panels that have been weathered, industrial style. Which doesn’t sound luxurious at all, but the rich, almost glowing green brings a real sense of style to a room scheme.

Grey & Green Should Be Seen!

Caesarstone Quartz is durable, impervious to staining, and is a very good choice for work surfaces in busy kitchens, needing minimal upkeep. This is Caesarstone Supernatural in Turbine Grey, looking stunning paired with dark green cabinetry. Go for an equally practical concept for the floor, we would suggest our Arcticwood Argent ceramic plank-style tiles for a very similar look – and no sealing required!

Everything’s Gone Green

Give the kitchen a green update with new walls – going from white to green for example will definitely switch up the look. This is Emerald Vision easyclean® matt emulsion, by Crown Paints, which is tough, washable, moisture and stain-resistant, and allows grease stains and marks to be removed.

Classic Green

Our Village Emerald Green Wall Tiles are a popular choice for both kitchens and bathrooms – use them vertically or horizontally, in straight up and down blocks, or as a brick-style pattern. This is a green that won’t go out of style, and adds a natural, grounded element to a kitchen or bathroom scheme.

Bringing the Outside Inside

Adding real greenery to a kitchen is uplifting and refreshing, this is Nouvel from Roux Kitchens at Homebase. It’s a simple scheme that is made all the more uplifting with the natural wood finishes and abundant greenery. For a similar flooring look, try our Tejos Wood Effect Floor Tiles, available in four tones; Light Oak, Medium Oak, Greige, and Grey. They’re tough and extremely hardwearing – good to go in a busy kitchen!

Three in a Row

Add hints of a green theme to the kitchen, bathroom or living/dining room with a set of three green glass bud vases. These are from Sass & Belle, they look great with a bloom or stem of greenery.

Green & Greenery

Two shades of green work just as well as one. Go for a deep, dark green for walls and then add a contrast with some bright green leaves and plants. These Artificial Exotic Fan Palm Stems are from Audenza and are sold individually. Try just one as a vivid splash of green in a monochrome bathroom, such as seen in our Lounge Matt Black Porcelain bathroom setting.

A Softer Shade

Kromatika Green wall and floor tile are a rather more subtle green than some of the emerald or jungle shades, but are nonetheless still a positive, definite ‘green’. Choosing hexagonal tiles means that the effect can be plain and streamlined, but with just that added bit of interest thanks to the shape of each tile.

Green + Industrial Looks

Another great example of muted green cabinetry, this time in an industrial-style setting. Open rack-style shelves, metallic finishes and reeded glass elements all reinforce a stylish industrial-influenced look. Consider our Paros Carrara Marble Matt Wall Tiles for a tough, hardwearing look. The appliances are the Compact 45cm Dolce Stil Novo Steam Oven with Copper Trim and the 45cm  Dolce Stil Novo Wifi Wine Cooler, both available from Smeg.

On the Edge

The design detail of a ‘burnt edge’ on our Fulham Sage Wall Tiles means that these tiles have a darker surrounding edge, which adds interest to the concept of plain wall tiles. Each measures 400mm x 150mm, and naturally, there are a few other colours too which blend in very well for a green theme. Take a look at the Aqua, Grey, Blue, Sage, and White shades for a multi-coloured scheme.

Perfectly Plain Green

Get the green theme just right with the Jupiter Slab and Fjord Green handleless kitchen from Trend Interiors.  It’s a combination of two striking designs – a plain, matt green slab with a textured, concrete/stone effect island feature, both finishes enhanced with a black brushed profile trim. Complete the contrast concept with some dark floor tiles, such as our Grange Grey Matt Floor Tiles, with a finish designed to replicate brushed concrete.

Back to Nature

Add a hint of the rainforest with Maxwell Williams Panama Pitcher from Kitchencraft – just the job for mixing up a batch of cocktails or some cool drinks for the bank holiday weekend!
