We’re seeing quite a few pale colour schemes coming through at the moment – after all, not everyone loves the strong, bold shades we’ve been talking about and featuring recently. In this month’s installment of Trend Watch, we take a closer look at some paler schemes and throw in some ideas for a few rugs in suitably restrained shades to match…
Smooth Concrete Looks
Go for a minimalist look with our City Stone Grey Wall & Floor tile. In two formats, 600mm x 300mm and 600mm x 600mm. They’re designed to replicate concrete, and are an excellent choice for a pale, streamlined look throughout a whole room. If you prefer a slightly warmer pale tone, they’re also available in Clay.
Indoor-Outdoor Style
For a smart, clean look, try Rocastone Grey Stone Effect porcelain tiles with rectified edges – which means the edges are very defined and crisp so that grouting looks minimal. There’s an outdoor version available too, so the streamlined look can continue through to a terrace or balcony. They’re designed to look like pale grey limestone – but are highly stain-resistant and don’t need any sealing after installation. Perfect for a busy family home.
The White Room
White floor tiles flatter and enhance a floor space; they can make a small room look much more spacious and can also reflect the light and add a touch of glamour to darker rooms. These are Blanco Rectified Gloss Porcelain Floor tiles, 600mm x 600mm and suitable for both walls and floors (so can add the same sense of space and gloss to the bathroom or kitchen as well).
Add Soft Colours
Larger tiled areas can benefit from a strategically placed rug, which doesn’t have to be bright and zingy to have an impact. We rather like this practical suggestion, the Nilsen Distressed Rug, made from 100% polypropylene so it’s washable and comes in two sizes, so is big enough to use with a kitchen or dining table as well as a central feature in a tiled living room.
Vanilla Nice
We love the pale emphasis of this bathroom, which features our Royal Vanilla Polished Porcelain tiles, laid diagonally for a striking effect. These tiles are 800mm x 800mm, great for minimising the look of grout lines, and for smaller rooms or if you just prefer using smaller formats, there’s also a 300mm x 600mm size variant available.
Absolutely Floored!
The Meditation Coral collection of rugs by Louis de Poortere features this subtly shaded Oyster White colourway, which is a beautifully textured and shaded design, described as a jacquard flatweave, It’s also 100% polyester with a 100% natural latex anti-slip backing – so a good combination with tiles. Available in four sizes, up to 200cm x 280cm, so perfectly suited to larger spaces.
Straight & Narrow
Create a pale patterned effect with a combination of our lighter shades. These are super choices for splashbacks, upstands, wall panels and borders, and can be used horizontally, vertically, or angled in a herringbone pattern. Three favourite lighter shades are Manacor Blue Moon; Manacor White and Manacor Blush Pink
Dreamy Shades
Take a look at this delightful softly-shaded rug – it’s the aptly named Pink Dream rug from Rose & Grey. A dreamy way to add warmth and texture to a pale interior.
Sandstone Style
Our Softstone Grey Rectified Wall Tiles are ceramic and designed to look exactly like natural sandstone. As such they have a pale, sophisticated hue that looks beautiful in a contemporary bathroom.
