Ultimate Combinations: Hexagons + Hexagons

As much as we love contrasting themes and looks here at Tile Mountain, we’re also extremely enthusiastic about hexagonal shapes. Our hexagonal tiles are consistently popular, and we’ve seen some very impressive customer projects using them. So, with that in mind, this month’s Ultimate Combinations sees us focusing on combining hexagonal tiles with hexagonally influenced accessories…just go for it, hexagonal-style!

For Floors & Walls

Choose our Kromatika White Wall Tiles and Kromatika Black Wall Tiles for a rather special combination of wall and floor tiles (they’re suitable for either surface). The look is simple but interesting, combining stark black and white for the floor with white alone for the walls – and a bit of extra ‘oomph’ is provided by the zig-zag edge for the top tile line – after all, if you’re using hexagonal tiles, you want the design to make a statement!

Double Hexagon Combi

This is a clever combination of our Hexagon Blue Mix Decor Wall Tiles and our larger scale (measuring in at 330mm x 285mm) Apollo Hexagon White floor tiles, which can also be used on walls. The wall tiles take the form of one tile, each measuring 510mm x 265mm, made to give the appearance of a mosaic in a three-rows-of-five format (it’s actually one solid tile however with realistic faux grout lines(. They are straightforward to install and look very dramatic against a pure white tub. Try the Finsbury 1500mm Freestanding Bath from our sister company Bathroom Mountain to recreate this in your new bathroom.

Hexagons & Matt Black Taps

This is a pretty good combination we’d say. This is our Hexagon Carrara Marble Effect Wall Tiles – also suitable for floors, providing a great background to bold black taps. The taps themselves are the Severn Matt Black Basin Mixer Tap, a matching bath filler is also available, from Bathroom Mountain. Black and white is a no-nonsense combination, fitting in with nearly every design scheme you can think of, and it never goes out of style eithrer!

Hexagonal Inspiration

Our Hexagon Carrara Marble Effect Wall Tiles act as an almost neutral backdrop to a streamlined basin-shelf combination, alongside bold black accessories and black floor tiles. The marble-effect pattern on these porcelain wall tiles is realistic and adds an interesting, understated background to the fittings. For a similar counter-top basin, try the Carolina Counter Top Basin from Bathroom Mountain, and matching matt black basin accessories also from Bathroom Mountain.

Details Matter

For an ultimate combination of hexagons + hexagons add the finishing touch of a set of hexagonal drawer knobs from Dowsing & Reynolds. These are the Bauhaus Hexagon Furniture Drawer Handles in Black, Forgotten Silver and Raw Brass. Each measures approx 17mm x 32mm and would be a fabulous detail for kitchen or bathroom cabinetry alongside hexagonal tiles.

Patterns Within Patterns

Our Grazia Hexagon Decor Wall Tiles come in various intricate patterns – they’re supplied in boxes of 14 randomly selected tiles from a possible 20 patterns. They’re predominantly black and white, but with touches of silver-blue, grey and brown. Team with our Apollo tiles in Black, Grey or White for an all-over floor and wall scheme.

Hexagonal Colour Story

Go for full-on colour with Andalucia patterned hexagonal wall and floor tiles. Again, these are supplied in a random selection of 14 tiles per box, from a choice of 24 possible patterns. Definitely the way to go if you want hexagons plus colour! A similar bath is available from the team at Bathroom Mountain, it’s the Hyde 1500mm Freestanding Bath.

Hexagons on Paper

Would it be too much to suggest a hexagon-patterned wallpaper to team with hexagonal tiles? No, we don’t think so either! Take a look at the bold and beautiful ideas from Mind The Gap at Ionian Interiors. This is the Hexa Onyx Wallpaper . Each roll is the standard 52cm x 10m, so is just right for a feature wall or alcove.

Subtle Hexagons

This super scheme is very clean-cut and simple, consisting of just our Hexagon Grey tiles in a formal pattern (and they’re beautifully cut around that tricky sloping ceiling too!). If you wanted to add a little bit of colour to create more interest, these tiles also come in Black and White too. The continuation of tiles along the bath panel and integral shelf is such a straightforward option but looks absolutely perfect in this scheme.

Adding Hexagons

Double up on hexagonal style with the addition of the Izmir 1 Light Pendant with hexagonal old gold frame and opal glass lamp, from Dar Lighting. Open-frame ‘shades’ are very on-trend and are perfect for when you want a decent amount of accent or ambient lighting in a room. It’s generously sized at 680mm diameter and can be ceiling hung with a drop of up to 2000cmm – so check your measurements carefully!

Perfect in Pink

Hexagons + Pink – what a perfect combination, and a brilliant way of including two trending ideas into a kitchen scheme in one go. This is the Alveare Bar Stool Silver Blush Pink with laser-cut hexagonal details and a sleek curved base frame. It’s available in several other colours and finishes, but if you fancy something bespoke, they’ll make one with your own fabric. It’s available from My Furniture. And for the perfect combination of Hexagons + Hexagons in Pink, take a look at our Kromatika Rosa Wall Tiles.

As always, we love seeing your projects, so if you’re planning on bringing hexy back in your next renovation then do share your pics with us over on Twitter tagging @TileMountainUK or on Instagram!
