A mirror will lighten and brighten any room – especially a bathroom. Of course, every bathroom needs a decent mirror, so choose carefully, position it for maximum effect and it will be a fabulous design statement. A carefully positioned mirror can double the perceived size of a tiny bathroom and takes up next to no space.
This post sees us getting inspired by a variety of mirror ideas – some are wall-fixed, others are purely freestanding accessories that can be swapped or moved around to update your style whenever you fancy a change. Remember to take professional or expert advice when installing fixed mirrors, especially large-scale or full-wall size… safety is always paramount!
New Looks … Go Full Width
We think this positioning of a mirror is extremely clever indeed – the temptation would be to have a couple of square mirrors, one above each basin. However, by extending a mirror to the full width of each basin and vanity area, the look is much more elegant – and of course, in such a layout there is the advantage of a great reflective view too. These are Mozart Black Matt porcelain wall and floor tiles. Keep the overall scheme monochromatic but add a warmer touch with wooden cabinetry to create a very successful look.
Sleek & Simple
This all-white bathroom couldn’t be much simpler … the lines are clean and crisp, and our Bernini Marble Effect tiles create a sleek, sophisticated look. The addition of a mirrored panel is simple and straightforward; a high street glazing company or glass merchants will be able to provide a sheet of mirrored glass cut to size and with screw holes drilled. Hanging Around
A circular mirror is a design statement in itself, but teamed with an angular basin and smart tiled panel (try our Metro wall tiles to re-create this look) it adds a great curvy contrast. I can’t resist flagging up these suggestions for feature mirrors in a bathroom, two by Oliver Bonas – always a great source of accessory inspiration, and a quirky one from Red Candy. These have the makings of a collection, I think. The surge in popularity of rose-gold and red-gold finishes for bathroom fittings means there’s a great choice of co-ordinating accessories around too, from toothbrush holders and soap dishes to shower heads, taps and bathroom shelves, hooks and shower caddies.

Reflective Inspiration
So … if our design-statement mirrors are proving to be a source of creativity, take a look at interior designer Rebecca Hughes’ idea for a mirrored ‘head board’. This idea would be equally effective in the corner of a bathroom or even a kitchen. Work on the basis that if you’re spending a lot of time putting together a gorgeous home, adding mirrors will bounce light around, reflecting different view and angles in a pleasing and creative way.
