Winter Sparkle: Our Favourite Glittery Looks

Now that Halloween is done and dusted we think it’s perfectly acceptable to start adding seasonal glitter and glitz to your home décor…so this week we’re going to give you some sparkly suggestions and iridescent ideas to brighten up winter rooms…

Snow White Style

These tiles have just the right amount of glitz and sparkle to lift an otherwise simple colour scheme and help it move away from that clinical look. The shiny, polished finish of both the mosaics and the large format floor tiles add glamour to this room, without going over the top bling! The wall mosaics are our Quartz Stone Snow White Mosaics, The floor tiles are our Quartz Stone Snow White 600mm x 600mm format, and actually include a percentage of crush mirror fragments to create that all-important reflective, sparkling effect. For further details on installing mosaics and the correct adhesives and grout, visit our Help Centre. To emphasise a glitzy look, consider adding Mapeglitter to our Kerapoxy Design grout… more of which later on!

Get Your Glitter On

From left; Time to have a close look at our Quartz Stone Grey floor tiles, again with mirror fragments for a shimmering, reflective quality. Our Quartz tiles are tough, hardwearing, and are suited to large spaces (for an expansive, reflected, seamless look) and for smaller spaces too (where reflective qualities bounce light around for a spacious feel, such as this lovely customer bathroom here). For a seriously glittery look, try adding our Mapeglitter to our Mapei Kerapoxy Design Grout; it comes in Copper, Blue, Purple, Pink, Red, Bronze and Silver. Use one 100g bag of glitter per tub of grout, and needless to say, we would absolutely love to see some pics of your glittery finished projects! If you’re thinking of making a real glitzy style statement, our Quartz Stone Red tiles could be just the job – and if a completely red room or wall feels a bit too much, go for a band of colour halfway up or across the room, or just a splashback or upstand-style area.

Midnight Gems

Black wall and floor tiles aren’t usually associated with glittery looks, but we wanted to pop some ideas forward…our Strauss Black Porcelain tiles come in floor and wall formats, including mosaics, and seeing them here with the amazing gold finish bathroom fittings, we can’t help but feel that a modest use of Bronze-Gold Mapeglitter to that mosaic centre panel could add a whole extra layer of luxe-style to an otherwise very simple and straightforward scheme.

Divine Accessory Inspiration…

Keep the glitter and glitz glowing by choosing sparkling glass tealights, these are the Gold and Green versions from The Contemporary Home, and are just the right colours to team with our iridescent Diesel Glass Mosaics. They have that gorgeous, shimmery, mix of black with hints of brilliant pink, green and purple – not quite glitter, but definitely shimmer and a fantastic way of adding depth and interest to a colour scheme.

All Pink & Sparkly

Adding shimmer, shine and sparkle to a room can be as easy as adding glitter to our grout, using reflective tiles, or iridescent glass mosaics. If you are a novice tiler, then take a look at our Wall Tiling Guide if it’s a whole room concept, or just crack on with some mesh-backed Hammered Pink Mosaics as a good starter project. We love the warmth and depth of the colours in this pink colourway…mix in some white and silver Christmas accessories – candles, a wreath or two and so on for an interesting seasonal colour scheme.

Some Finishing Touches…

Inspired by our sparkling tiles and glitzy grouts? Have a look at some wallpaper suggestions that could just be that final touches for your bedroom en-suite scheme. All these glorious wallcoverings are from Arthouse. From left; Diamond Galaxy in Blush, which as it’s non-directional, could be used for the ceiling as well as walls. Centre, Diamond Palm in Charcoal, which has a glitter sheen finish, and right, Diamond Galaxy in Purple. Both the Galaxy designs are literally dusted with glitter…
