Customer Tile Style Profile: Roz’s Kitchen Refresh

Our Customer Tile Style Profile feature takes an in-depth look at some of the fantastic renovation and redesign projects our customers complete using products from the Tile Mountain range. This month’s instalment sees us catching up with Roz Black of Glenrothes, Fife who used our Imperial Ivory Polished Porcelain tiles to refresh kitchen floors that had been victim of water damage.

What were the circumstances behind the project?

We had a leak in the plumbing behind our washing machine which meant we had to lift and discard our laminate flooring and replace the floorboards underneath.  We made the decision that we wanted to tile the kitchen floor this time.

Was your choice of decor & colour scheme influenced by the tiles you chose, or did you pick the tiles to fit in with a style you’d chosen for the rest of the room?

We already had a high gloss kitchen in the colour Cashmere so we wanted tiles to compliment it.

What made you decide that the tiles you chose were the right tiles for your project?

The free sample service that Tile Mountain offered was fantastic! I was able to order samples of tiles in cream, beige and ivory to try to find the best shade to go with our kitchen. The polished porcelain in Ivory was perfect.

How long did the project take to complete and did you do the tiling yourself or hire a professional tiler?

Drying out the kitchen and choosing the right tiles took a few weeks, then my husband and I covered the entire floor in plywood, screwed down as per the tiler’s request. We hired a professional tiler to lay the tiles, he only took two days to complete the job.

What part of the project was most difficult and why?

I think the most difficult part of the project was choosing the right tiles, there was so much choice in a wide variety of shades and styles. I wanted to be sure that I had chosen the right tiles to coordinate with my kitchen.

Do you have any further decorating projects lined up?

Our next project is going to be replacing the woodwork out house, the door frames, skirting boards and internal doors.

What advice would you give to people considering undertaking a similar project?

My advice would be to take their time and ensure they are making the right choices. If the project is something that is within their abilities to do themselves then go for it, you get great satisfaction from your own work and achievements, but be wise enough to know when to hire professional tradesmen.

What would you say to people who are thinking about buying tiles from Tile Mountain?

I would highly recommend Tile Mountain, the service I have received has been first class. They have a great range of tiles to choose from and the ability to receive a sample first is excellent.
