Description

Norcross Permalayer is an anti-fracture underlay, used beneath ceramic, porcelain and natural stone tiles to protect the tiled finish from damaging movement stresses which may occur in the background under the tiles.

Key Features

  • Suitable fo timber/metal floors & areas with limited movement
  • For us with green screeds & concrete
  • Fracture resistant up to 3mm
  • Can be used with underfloor heating
  • 1.8mm thickness

Designed for use over timber as well as green (i.e. minimum 48 hours old) concretes and screeds, Nocross Permalayer is ideal for bridging cracks in the substrate up to 3mm wide, preventing the cracks from transferring through to the tiled finish. Permalayer enables the substrate beneath to move laterally, protecting the tiled finish from the detrimental effects of subfloor movement. A solid bed can also be achieved due to the flat nature of the underlay eliminating the problems associated with point loading.Permalayer is easy to install and adds only 2mm to the floor height as in comparison to the 15-18mm required for plywood overlays. Due its design, Permalayer uses upto 50% less adhesive than other brands making it the most cost effective option for floor prep/insulation.

hi, what adhesive should be used to fix this to a P5 wooden floor?

logo

Our advice: We wouldn't advise installing it onto a P5 board. We would advise using a cement backer board. You could use our Keraquick Grey Fast Setting Adhesive 20kg SKU: 012120UK to adhere the permalayer to the substrate.

Hi is this a roll one big sheet?

logo

Our advice: This roll is one piece measuring 1.2m wide and 16.5m in length.

Our advice: We wouldn't advise using this method of installation for an exterior project.

Could I use this to stick on torch on felt before tiling a balcony

logo

Our advice: We would not recommend tiling onto this substrate.

Does this need to be laid with adhesive under it ?

logo

Our advice: Yes, this would need to be applied with a thin layer of adhesive underneath, just enough so that it begins to seep through the gaps in the permalayer, and then once this is set you can then begin to tile on top of it.
