Very nice patio

This is my first time using porcelain slabs, so I don't know how they compare to other slabs. They are very strong. I managed to drop a batch onto the concrete pathway, without any damage to the slabs whatsoever. The slabs have a good mix of patterns, which can be randomly laid together to create a good overall effect. The end result is a very nice patio that has transformed the property, is good value for money, and is far superior to using concrete slabs in my opinion.

Tiles look great!

Never laid a patio before so was a bit worried at using porcelain. Borrowed a water fed still saw which worked a treat, I tried a grinder with a diamond blade at first but found it chipped.. The tiles can also chip on the edges and corners, so be careful when handling them. I love the colour and texture- the marbling effect is great for hiding footprints and dirt, glad I didn’t use plain tiles.

Can we lay these slabs and point with a traditional sand and cement mix?

logo

Our advice: These tiles would need to be installed onto a cured concrete base and adhered using an exterior tile adhesive like our Adesilex P4 Grey Floor Adhesive 20kg SKU: 218220 and grouted with Ultracolor Manhattan (Light Grey) 110 Flexible Grout 5kg SKU: 6011005A. Alternatively, they could be installed onto a hardcore base and adhered with our Norcros Rock Tite system.

I see a curved edge in one of the photos. Can these be cut with a small angle grinder by hand or do they need something more specialised? And is it better to lay then cut in situ or cut individually and then lay? Thanks.

logo

Our advice: We would advise using an angle grinder with a diamond-tipped blade. It would be best to cut the tiles before installing them. They will need to be fully supported throughout the cutting.

can be use in kitchen?

logo

Our advice: This tile can be used indoors and in a kitchen; however, due to the thickness of it, it may affect the height of your floor, so we would recommend discussing this further with your installer.
