Customer Tile Style Profile: Dom’s Revamped Bathrooms

Our Customer Tile Style Profile feature takes a closer look at some of the amazing renovation and redesign projects our customers undertake using products from the Tile Mountain range. This instalment features Dominic Hampton of Hertfordshire, who created not one, but two ultra-modern bathrooms using our Toscana Mixed Mosaic, Toscana Dark Grey, and Toscana Silver Rectified tiles. We caught up with him to chat with him about the project…

What were the circumstances behind the project?

We had a full extension at the back of the house and the bathrooms needed updating to match.

Was your choice of decor & colour scheme influenced by the tiles you chose, or did you pick the tiles to fit in with a style you’d chosen for the rest of the room?

We knew we wanted grey and after looking at Tile Mountain’s website, it was incredibly easy to find and pick out the tiles that matched what we had in mind. As the bathrooms were essentially a blank canvass as they were both gutted and created from scratch, we didn’t have to match any tiles to existing fittings etc.

What made you decide that the tiles you chose were the right tiles for your project?

Cost, size and colour where are main reason for choosing what we did.

How long did the project take to complete and did you do the tiling yourself or hire a professional tiler?

We hired a pro tiler (Dev – he was great!) and the entire tiling took 3 days.

What part of the project was most difficult and why?

The bath was exactly the width of the room, so was the hardest bit. We had to be bang on with all our measurements and cuts for the tiles, and it was also quite difficult to get the tub aligned properly. We got there in the end though.

Do you have any further decorating projects lined up?

We did two further bathrooms, both using Tile Mountain products as we were so impressed with the range of choice and quality.

What advice would you give to people considering undertaking a similar project?

Plan your furniture and fittings, especially when it comes to placing your radiators!

What would you say to people who are thinking about buying tiles from Tile Mountain?

Very happy with the tiles themselves and the service we enjoyed – just make sure you use the add 12% for wastage option when you order order as you’ll find that more often than not, you’ll need more tiles.

If you’d like to see your project featured in our monthly Customer Tile Style Profile, simply leave a review of the products you bought and share photos of your completed tiling project on our Facebook wall. If we use your photos on our website we’ll send you a crisp £20 Amazon voucher for your troubles and even make you internet famous for a bit in this very feature.
