Hi, I have just purchased some 6mm backerboard and have read conflicting advice on how to install it. Do I need to use any form of adhesive (or mesh tape) to install on T&G 18mm floorboards? At present I am only planning to use the 25mm backerboard screws I also purchased. Our Advice

You can just use the screws; however, if you wished, you could use a small amount of adhesive as well.

Is it a good insulator, can I use it instead of thermal board for underfloor heating? Our Advice

HardieBacker boards are suitable for underfloor heating. They should always be placed between the structural timber floor and the heating element.

hi looking to install these on bathroom walls, all are brick (plastered) which adhesive is best to use and which size screws/washers are best to use? Thank YouOur Advice

We wouldn't recommend using adhesive, we would only recommend using screws. We recommend a minimum of 2” x 4” wood studs or 20-gauge metal studs, which must be straight, properly aligned and spaced a maximum of 16” on center
