Even the most contemporary home can include some heritage-style or traditional influences … perhaps a gorgeously distressed timber style floor, or a hallway with encaustic-style tiles. The advantage of course, of using new tiles from our collections is that you get exactly the right look. You are safe in the knowledge that your new look might be period, heritage, distressed, or traditional – but the tiles are entirely new, tough, un-damaged and hardwearing. So there’s no need for a trek around the salvage yards. Here, we take a look at tiles that will fit into any home – whether to re-create a period look, or to add a hint of traditional style to a newer roomscape.

Our Mini Metro tiles are simply perfect for a kitchen, and immediately add a heritage-style theme. Brick tiles have been used for years, and are available in lots of colours and various finishes. Black and White colour options are popular and bring a traditional look to any kitchen. Try teaming with open shelves and display some of your favourite old-fashioned accessories. Star Studded
A colourful, highly patterned tiled floor always conjures up images of sunny days and garden rooms; it’s a perfect and practical choice. Back in Victorian times, sun rooms, conservatories, garden rooms and the like were nearly always tiled with ornate patterned tiles. This was mainly from a practical point of view, of course, as the debris from planting and watering was less noticeable on an intricately tiled floor (!) but also because of the Victorian’s love of ornate pattern. We’re very keen on the soft blues and geometric design of the Hanoi Star Blue floor tiles from the Hanoi range; this particular range also includes Cube and Flower options.

Could any designer consider drawing up plans for a period-style bathroom without considering a roll top bath and marble? Marble effect tiles are perhaps the ultimate option to re-create a heritage look (think of all those grand-hotel style bathrooms from the Edwardian and Art Deco eras). It’s perfect for a classic or traditional scheme, but can also add a sense of period drama to a bathroom scheme that includes contemporary basins and furniture.
