Get the best protection against moisture damage when you use HardieBacker® tiling backer board; the floor tiling backerboard of choice wherever superior performance is required.
Use the durable, mould and water-resistant alternative to plasterboard for tiling on walls. HardieBacker® 12 mm thick cement backerboard with MouldBlock Technology for tile and stone doesn’t swell, rot or warp, so that your tiling work stays put. HardieBacker® 12 mm is strong: boasting the highest flexibility and up to 3x the compressive strength compared to competitive boards. HardieBacker® fastens directly to any floor, wall or wooden frame and lines up perfectly with any dry wall, making it particularly quick and easy to install. Use HardieBacker® 12 mm on the floor when additional height is needed. Its fire resistant properties also make it the ideal choice of wall panelling behind a boiler, or even behind a multi-fuel or wood-burning stove.
Would this be suitable to increase the thickness of porcelain tiles under a log burner?
Our advice: This backer board would give you an extra 6mm depth underneath your tiles. It is suitable to be used under a log burner.
Do I need to tank and prime hardie backer boards?
Our advice: Yes, if using this in a shower area, you can use our Waterproofing kit. https://www.tilemountain.co.uk/p/mapei-shower-waterproofing-kit.html
Please advise if I should use 6mm or 12 mm hardie backer boards on my bathroom walls ready for tiling etc.
Our advice: We recommend the 12mm Hardie Backer Board for the bathroom wall.
can this be installed direct onto brick wall ?? if so what kind of adhesive is needed cheers steve
Our advice: Hi Steve, thank you for your question. The HardieBacker Board can be installed directly onto a brick wall. Adhesive is not needed to secure this to your walls, just screws.
Can the board be installed instead of floor boards on floor joists and also take the weight of a bath tub?
Our advice: Unfortunately no, the HardieBacker board would need to be installed on top of floorboards. We would recommend using 6mm HardieBacker Board 1200x800 SKU: 445675 for the floor.
