Jazz up your floors with a splash of 1920s style with Brighton, a fantastic range of ‘hydraulic’ tiles designed to replicate the colourful encaustic-style cement tiles that were all the rage in the roaring twenties.

Key Features

  • Authentic replication of hydraulic encaustic-style tiles

  • Eye-catching colourful surface design

  • Hardwearing porcelain construction

  • Matt finish

  • Available in two colour variants: Grey / Blue

Taking their inspiration from the ‘hydraulic’ encaustic tiles that peaked in popularity alongside the Art Deco movement, these visually astounding floor tiles are the antithesis of boring flooring. Constructed from durable porcelain and available in two colourful surface designs, Brighton certainly rocks and is guaranteed to turn heads no matter where it’s installed! Brighton tiles are scored down the middle to create faux grout lines, giving a singluar tile the apperance of four smaller tiles. For a pleasing finish, these faux grout lines require grouting, so if you are looking for a matched grout line throughout the rest of the installatiomn we recommend a 2mm joint.

Modern mosaic style
We used these tiles in our downstairs loo on the floor. We matched them with the metro Matt white tiles in the wall. We used grey grout because the tiles already have this in between the gaps. It matches our wooden floor perfectly too. The style is so dreamy and trendy. We have had many comments on Instagram about them too. I’ve fine a close up picture because you can see the small dark grey detail in them incase it matches the style of your home too.

Amazing!
We absolutely love these tiles. They are sophisticated and everyone loves them. Even more of a love is that these tiles are a 4 in 1 and £80 cheaper per square meter than the original ones I found of the same design!!! We have them on the floor in our utility and splash back behind the oven!! Only minus is trying to find suitable tiles to contrast and compliment them, In a shower, which is not easy. Samples suggested In the Q and As are not quite right and the range do not have plain tiles.

Q : What depth of Keraquick S1, that you recommended for this tile ,would you recommend when laying this size of floor tile onto a plywood floor?

Answers (1)
Advice

This would depend on how much movement there is from your substrate. If there is minimal movement I would advise a 10mm bed. If however the substrate that the plywood is fixed to is uneven I would recommend combining the Keraquick White Fast Setting Adhesive SKU:012520 with our Latex Plus SKU:215106UK at a 1:1 ratio. In regards to the plywood, it must be at least 15mm thick or a Backerboard will need to be installed first 6mm HardieBacker Board 1200x800 SKU:445675

Q : Hi which adhesive should i use for these tiles (Brighton) going onto a screed floor. There is a thin layer of a bituminous adhesive from the old parquet type flooring. Should I put a latex type material on first? thank you

Advice

We would suggest applying Eco Prim Grip to the floor then use Keraquick adhesive.

Q : We'd like to use these on both a shower feature wall and bathroom floor. What adhesive would you recommend? Floor would be directly onto plywood - should we use a covering? Shower wall is onto bathroom plasterboard. Thanks

Advice

We would recommend covering the floor with our 6mm HardieBacker boards (SKU:445675) before tiling. Following this, a flexible adhesive, such as our Keraquick Rapid set (SKU:012120UK) or Keraflex MAxi slow setting adhesive (SKU:1202620), can be used.

Q : Can these be used for a wet room floor?

Answers (1)
Advice

The matt finish will provide an element of grip factor, however, we would recommend ordering a sample to view in situ and ascertain the level of grip is suitable for your needs.
