Jazz up your floors with a splash of 1920s style with Brighton, a fantastic range of ‘hydraulic’ tiles designed to replicate the colourful encaustic-style cement tiles that were all the rage in the roaring twenties.

Taking their inspiration from the ‘hydraulic’ encaustic tiles that peaked in popularity alongside the Art Deco movement, these visually astounding floor tiles are the antithesis of boring flooring. Constructed from durable porcelain and available in two colourful surface designs, Brighton certainly rocks and is guaranteed to turn heads no matter where it’s installed! Brighton tiles are scored down the middle to create faux grout lines, giving a singular tile the appearance of four smaller tiles. For a pleasing finish, these faux grout lines require grouting, so if you are looking for a matched grout line throughout the rest of the installation we recommend a 2mm joint.

I am having my kitchen done and it is empty at the moment. Is it okay to have the tiles down first on the complete floor and then have my appliances (fridge, cooker, washing machine) on top of the tiles, would the tiles be able to take the weight?Our Advice

Yes, it would be a great idea to tile first. Provided the tiles are installed correctly onto a sound substrate with a full bed of tile adhesive, they will safely take the weight of a fridge, cooker, or washing machine.

can these be used on an outside patio terrace? Our Advice

Yes, providing they are installed onto a cured concrete base and adhered using a full bed of exterior tile adhesive. Please bear in mind however that this tile holds and R9 anti-slip rating, ideally an R11 or above should be used.

Hi I would like to use these for my kitchen wall (dry). Can you advise what size notched trowel/ bed thickness of adhesive you would recommend. Do the tiles require back buttering? Thank youOur Advice

We would advise using an 8mm notched trowel with either our Keraquick or Keraflex adhesive. The tiles do not require back buttering.

Does this tile needs to be sealed?Our Advice

This does not need to be sealed as it is a matt tile. You can, however, use a tile protector to help to make the tile easier to clean - we would advise looking at the LTP Porcelain Tile Protector (sku LTP391) for this.
