Ultimate Combinations: Fabulous Flooring and Decorative Details

This time, we’re looking at how clever choice of flooring and eye-catching decorative details can create a show-stopping look for your latest design scheme.

Perfect Panelling

The combination of fabulous flooring and decorative details is wonderfully illustrated here by the use of Merope Onyx Marble Effect Beige Polished floor (and wall!) tiles, and simple painted panelling. The warm Beige shade creates a welcoming and relaxing vibe here, and the beige-pink panelling is spot on. Try Dorchester Pink by Little Greene for a beautiful painted finish – in gloss, eggshell or satinwood. And for a stylish floor-standing cabinet, take a look at the Bermuda Range in Chalk White from Bathroom Mountain.

Grey and Green Combined

A busy, well-used hallway needs a tough floor – and Luxury Vinyl Tiles are a good choice. These are Concrete Effect Grey Luxury Click Vinyl Flooring tiles, shown in a 300mm x 600mm format. Choose a neutral shade, such as grey or beige and add oomph and contrast via paint or wallpaper. If you’ve haven’t worked with Luxury Vinyl Tiles before, there’s plenty of help and advice available in our installation guide here.

Fabulous Floor Tiles

Combining matching wall and floor tiles works very well here, with added an added decorative detail – colourful furniture. These wall and floor tiles are our Oasis Aquamarine Matt Porcelain Wall and Floor tiles in soft shades of green. They create a beautiful combination with our Oasis Floral Patterned Matt Porcelain Wall and Floor tiles, showing how an abundance of pattern creates a stylish look.

It’s Black and White

Black and white floor tiles are a classic choice that works well in both classic and contemporary homes. Here, our Kromatika Hexagon White Porcelain floor and wall tiles create an effective monochromatic look that is simple and stunning. Each Kromatika tile measures 116mm x 101mm, and the decorative detail here is in the way the tiles are used on end, creating a zig-zag line midway along the wall. For more detail in the form of black taps and mirrors, take a look at the selection available from Bathroom Mountain.

Contrast & Combine

Bold shades, such as navy and indigo are popular kitchen choices – darker shades are considered to be practical, and make a good combination with neutrals. Here we have Belize Light Grey Matt Porcelain floor tiles, combined with striking cabinetry, a touch of greenery and some natural wood finishes. Slatted wood details are also very on-trend at the moment, used widely for wall panels.

Distinctive Details

Choose a larger format square tile to install diagonally, such as our City Stone Clay floor (and wall) tiles. These look distinctive yet understated, and prove to be a great combination with our Artesano Graphite wall tiles used in a vertical format. Other details that work well in this setting are the touches of copper for the lightshade and tap. Remember, it’s all in the details!

A Blissful Bathroom

Create a blissful combination of a stylish bath and comfortable LVT wood-look flooring. This is Living Cappuccino Oak Luxury Click Vinyl Flooring, which comes in a plank format, measuring 183mm x 1220mm. It’s the perfect way of getting an authentic ‘wood look’ in the bathroom, as these planks are water resistant, need no underlay (as there’s one built in), and the installation is straightforward too. These LVT planks can also be used with underfloor heating for a very luxurious finish, and are suitable for all rooms in the home – with the exception of the conservatory.

Grey with Black Details

Go for a very bold combination of our Lemmy Nimbus Grey floor and wall tiles – seen here used for both the large floor space and the recessed shower space. The same tiles, but in Pumpkin Gold also feature in this magnificent scheme. The decorative detail to focus on though, is the use of black accessories. Bathroom Mountain has black shower enclosures, black shower sets and black radiators to re-create that stunning look.

Star Struck

Patterned floors can become the focus of a simple design plan, and are often the star turn. Our Wicker Grey Pattern Matt Porcelain tiles measure 450mm x 450mm and are designed to replicate encaustic-style tiles – so they would suit a period home, particularly of the 1920s-1930s era. Team them with a grey cabinet – such as the Bathroom Mountain Bermuda in Dove Grey or Graphite. Oh, and for simple white wall tiles, try our ever popular Metro Matt White.

Circular Style

Our Nicole Aqua patterned floor tiles, from the Luken collection, which includes both plains and patterns, have a mixture of shades that can be teamed with other focal-point colours. Here, the tiles are teamed with a freestanding tub that has been painted a matching shade of dark grey. Future updates could include a change of tub colour to a paler grey or blue. For an even simpler change of detail, mix and match towel and accessory colours – switch things up with bright blues or shocking pinks!
