Trend Watch: Looking Forward to the Colours of 2023

There are some fabulous new looks coming through for interiors for 2023. The main injection of colour looks to be Viva Magenta, which is, of course, the Pantone Colour of the Year 2023. It’s a very warm and cheerful red-pink, which looks perfect with warm neutrals, such as Pale Dogwood and Grey Sand, as well as soft greens such as Pale Khaki and Fields of Rye, which are suggested Pantone partners to Viva Magenta. So it’s all looking good when taking into account Wild Wonder, which is the Dulux Colour of the Year 2023 – a glowing tone inspired by the natural world. Here are some of our tile predictions for 2023 … lots of warm neutrals which will work with bold accent colours, such as Viva Magenta, along with our green and pink choices that add a spark to neutral tile schemes.

Raspberry Blush

We also wanted to show you the dramatic and warming Raspberry Blush, which is the Colour of the Year 2023 for Benjamin Moore Paint. It’s an ‘unapologetic shade of red-orange’ and definitely hits the mark if you’re thinking of adding a painted colour to your tiling scheme. 2023 is definitely going to be interesting, colour-wise. Don’t forget, these warming shades work really well with warm tones of timber as well as tiles. Take a look at our engineered oak for inspiration for living and dining rooms.

Perfectly Pink

Our Onyx Effect Rose Pink Polished Porcelain wall and floor tiles step straight into the pink trend for 2023. They are a replication of beautiful, sophisticated natural onyx, and will bring an air of luxury to any new bathroom. We are definitely heading to a wave of warmer, more welcoming colours, which are a very successful choice for a bathroom. Take a look at some black bathroom fittings, such as shower enclosures, shower equipment and radiators at our sister company, Bathroom Mountain.

A Warm Grey

Grey will continue to be a favourite shade, alongside the pinks, greens and neutrals. These new Lithos Grey Hexagon Matt Marble Effect Porcelain wall and tiles are a warm grey, rather than a ‘cold’ grey, and sit well with touches of brass for the accessories and a spritz of pale green for the cabinetry. Each tile measures 116mm x 101mm so are easy to handle and install, with a matt finish and suitable for installation with our underfloor heating … see more details on our electric UFH here.

Serene Neutrals

Cream and beige shades instinctively add a warmer tone to a colour scheme, whilst still emphasising light and space. These are Onyx Marble Effect Cream Polished Porcelain Wall & Floor tiles. Team with black fittings and dark, textured timber surfaces for a very contemporary look. These large format tiles measure a huge 1200mm x 600mm so are a good look for larger spaces – and they’re not limited to the bathroom, either! Magnificent in a hallway or living room, too.

Positive Vibes

Wild Wonder ™ is the colour of the year for 2023 from Dulux, bringing a positive glow to colour schemes. There are four complementary colour palettes to inspire and expand the Wild Wonder theme, Lush, Buzz, Raw and Flow, which embrace a range of softer shades that include neutrals as well as focus colours such as a violet grey, Violet Dream and an intense ginger-brown, Burnished Copper. It’s well worth having a look at these colour themes when choosing tiles, for further inspiration!

Indoors & Outdoors

If you’re looking for a warmer neutral that can run through from the kitchen-dining area to the utility-boot room and then onwards to outside, take a look at Lucca Beige Anti Slip Matt Stone Effect Porcelain Wall & Floor tiles. This soft neutral with a matt finish looks particularly good with creams, golds, yellows and greens, and the large format, 1200mm x 600mm means they are practical to install in larger areas.

A Bold Grey

If you’ve settled on a bright focus colour, such as the aforementioned Viva Magenta, Colour of the Year 2023, for any painted walls, a mid-dark grey can work as a contrast. These wall tiles are Bernini Grey Gloss Marble Effect Ceramic wall tiles. If you’re deciding on your greys or neutrals for the main wall tiling, remember that the colour scheme can be switched up in the future by going for a bright paint shades, such as jade, pink, purple or mustard.

Replica concrete styles are another good tile choice to pair with brighter décor colours for walls and soft furnishings. We like Beton Grey Concrete Effect Matt Large Porcelain floor tiles, in the knowledge that they’re not going to go out of style anytime soon! They’re a large square format, 800mm x 800mm, allowing them to be laid diagonally. They have rectified edges too, which means that the grout lines will be very clean and crisp. Advice regarding installation, measuring and choice of grout can be found on our advice pages here,  or speak to one of our experts via online chat, by email or telephone via our Contact Page here.

Minty Fresh

All shades of green are super-fashionable at the moment, and of course, heading into 2023. From soft greens to botanical and jungle greens, using green is a way of adding a grounded, positive feeling to any colour scheme. These tiles, Manacor Mint in a 100mm x 100mm format have a deep glossy glazed finish, and look good as a full wall or you could just use a single row as an upstand around the room. The Mint colourway is a good choice when paired with dark green cabinetry – not matchy-matchy, but sticking with the green theme!

Leafy Greens

These show-stopping tiles are from our Oasis collection; there are two designs, the Oasis Floral Patterned Matt Porcelain wall and floor tiles, and the plainer complementary hexagonal tiles, Oasis Aquamarine Matt Porcelain Wall & Floor tiles. Although they’re not totally plain, there are 27 variations of the ‘plain’ tile, which give a beautiful random effect when installed – each box will contain a random selection which all work together beautifully. Best of all, these beautiful shades of Aquamarine and the Floral design can combine successfully with feature colours, such as pink.

Vertical Challenge

Village Teal tiles look good when installed in a vertical block pattern – but of course they can also go diagonally, herringbone-style, stacked horizontally or brick-pattern horizontally – the permutations are many and impressive! We just love the shade of Teal, which works very well for the neutral, colourful and warm-toned trends we’re looking forward to in 2023.
