Customer Tile Style Profile: Karin’s Kitchen Rework

Our Customer Tile Style Profile feature takes an in-depth look at some of the fantastic renovation and redesign projects our customers complete using products from the Tile Mountain range. This month’s instalment sees us catching up with Karin Green of Widnes who used our Metro Sage and Metro Light Cream along with our Kanna Nogal wood-effect floor tiles to refresh a dated kitchen.

What were the circumstances behind the project?

After moving into this house last August, the kitchen was in need of a make-over. The laminate floor had blown due to a flood and badly needed replacing. Everything had been botched and it was dire!

Was your choice of decor & colour scheme influenced by the tiles you chose, or did you pick the tiles to fit in with a style you’d chosen for the rest of the room?

I knew I wanted a light coloured kitchen – totally different to the old one. I also knew I wanted oak worktops, so when I found the wood effect tiles on your website it was a bonus! We got a few samples but fell in love with the Kanna Nogal. I wanted something calming and the sage and cream Metro Tiles are perfect.

What made you decide that the tiles you chose were the right tiles for your project?

The colours all worked well together and I had a vision of how it would look. the finished project exceeded my expectations!

How long did the project take to complete and did you do the tiling yourself or hire a professional tiler?

We started at the beginning of April and it took approximately three months in all. My husband did the tiling but he is a meticulous planner so he took his time to ensure it was right.

What part of the project was most difficult and why?

The kitchen had been extended twice over the years and the floor was uneven – part wood and part concrete. This had to be levelled and we also fitted underfloor heating as the space is so big – 14 ft x18 ft. Some aspects of this were challenging but, because the planning was spot on, the laying of the tiles was no issue.

Do you have any further decorating projects lined up?

Not at this moment in time.

What advice would you give to people considering undertaking a similar project?

Plan, plan, and plan some more!

What would you say to people who are thinking about buying tiles from Tile Mountain?

Shop around and then go to Tile Mountain! Prices could not be beaten and knocked all the others out of the park. Customer service and delivery was also spot on. I would have no hesitation in recommending  to anyone.
